Cocktail starts at 530pm. Finally decided to attend at 230pm. Arrived at Glorietta at 3pm to look for a dress and shoes to wear, whew! By 430 I was already at the salon to get my make-up and hair done. Was looking at the mirror at 6pm convincing myself that my hair doesn’t look like a bird’s nest. Come 630, I was already taking off all the hairpins in my hair and doing my own damage in it. 730pm, arrived at the Manila hotel, the program has just started and food is already starting to be served so I didn’t miss much. Yey!
Bangkok chronicles July 28, 2009
Chapter 1: 1 manicurest, 1 pedicurest and some other bangkok stories….
A few hours before departure for BKK, we’re still not sure if we’re pushing through or not. Sobrang lakas ng rain. Our flight was delayed for the second time. Thank heavens for Mavis’ “one manicurest, one pedicurest to the counter plest” story, we laughed our hearts out and totally forgot about the time.
Since it’s already 4am in BKK by the time we landed, we’re left with the ever dependable Mcdo to tide us through before calling it a day.
other side stories:
Ella – last minute salon visit for a rebond. Ok lang kulang tulog basta maganda sa facebook!
Anna and Mae – last minute nag-confirm na sasama.
Paulo – may ticket nga wala naman passport. waaaah, hindi nakasama!
Chapter 2 – It’s chatuchak day; money changer where are you?
As early as 9am the excited group is already walking along the streets of bangkok raring to go the city’s giant flea market – Chatuchak. Gameplan was to have our pesos exchanged in preparation for the hardcore shopping day ahead. Ang layo ng nilakad namin looking for a money changer (malay ba namin na 11 pa sila nagbubukas?!) only to be greeted by several money changers inside Chatuchak itself!
Not really a big fan of flea markets. I get overwhelmed with so much stuff in front of me I end up buying nothing much. Chatuchak for me was no different. I did enjoy the fun and colorful presentation of their “not so” streetfood though.
Bernie – upon seeing what Chatuchak is about: “So today is shopping day huh? should have just stayed at the hotel and watched DVD”
Chapter 3: Now you’re talking
This is my most favorite BKK day of all. This is the reason why I went to Bangkok. I love it!
Chapter 4: Tuktukan kita jan eh!
I have been warned over and over again as I read through forums, travel blogs and bkk package itineraries to be cautious in taking tuktuk rides as some will deviously take you to a jade, silk or handcraft shops when you ask them to take you around from temple to temple. What do you know, nabiktma pa rin kami! hahaha.
So that’s how we hit Bangkok. That and more Siam and night market visits on the side, yeap we were everywhere (except for Bernie and Nins who are almost always the first 2 to call it a day – while I’m the close 3rd).
Oh and in every new thing you do or every new place you visit, you always learn something new right? This is what I learned from the Thai people and will make sure to uphold for as long as I live:
