I’m back!!!!

 After:

  • 2 unscheduled trips to the ER
  • 3 antibiotic tabs that are really expensive (280 each? WTF?!?!?)
  • 5 days worth of generic amoxicillins
  • 5 days of bioflu (bioflu, boo!)
  • 7 days of solmux
  • 2 weeks of dry, unproductive cough
  • several 38+ fever and 2 really scary 39+ fever episodes
  • 2 days with a cookie monster voice
  • 2 1/2 worth of workdays missed
  • 2 blood extractions to rule-out dengue
  • 2 IV pushed paracetamol and pain reliever
  • 2 really good meals flushed down the drain (don’t want to go to details there)
  • 2 “would have been” spectacular days gone wrong
  • red, itchy rashes all over my body

If not for:

  • My roommate who made sure I was comfortable before leaving me
  • My sister in law who sleepily answered the phone when I phoned home really early in the morning
  • My mom who packed my stuff right away
  • My kuya who drove from Laguna to Makati at a speed of light
  • the rest of my family who was outside waiting when I got home
  • My “beck and call boy” as he prefers to be called
  • the diligent thermometer and the one who patiently took my temp for me
  • Nescafe vendo machine hot choco mocha and the one who got a cup for me
  • the rainbow t-shirt that kept me warm while in the cold, sad ER and the one who so willingly stripped for me!
  • COCOLIFE! – the one who willingly footed the bill for me!

I wouldn’t have fought this as fast as I had!

Now I’m stronger, more audacious and undaunting as ever!

I’m a lion, hear me roar!

There are stories you tell and stories you don’t tell. This is one of the stories I’m choosing not to tell, in detail that is. But because i’m such an irk i’m going to beleaguer you with snippets of quibbles (damn, don’t you just love how nice that sounded?) that’s definitely going to taunt, badger, toy and torment the bejeeesus out of you. So, if you’re really not up for some neuron-frying, time-wasting read, this is the part where you click the “x” located on the upper right corner of your screen to close the page.

….. but I guess you didn’t….. FINE!

Tuesday: “How about this weekend? Hmmm… Shortage of funds, right, right, next weekend sounds about right. Right! Let’s go next weekend!

Wednesday-Sunday: developed a weird obsession on the word ***-KUWA

Monday: ” What no electiricity from 8am to 5pm?!?!?! I don’t think I can handle that!

Wednesday-Friday: ***-KUWA no more!

Saturday:
Where in the hell are the taxi cabs??? Is there a taxi strike today? FINALLY!!!
Idealist: “Well maybe they thought they wanted to fix the scandal first or something. Which is a smart thing to do.”
Realist: “How does that help anyone? With this operational, it starts earning money already. Now that’s smarter!
Oh hello cheese bread ensaymada. You look so awesome, here let me buy you
uhmmm… say it, i know you want to change foods…
“Mommy, mommy, I’m here, I’m here!”
Driver: “garble, garble, gibberish, gibberish?” Response: “Paragon”
“I can’t believe we had 3 of that in 1 hour!
Magkapatid kayo? OPO!
15 minutes into DeathRace …. let’s go? OK!
Hello lonely ensaymada. Time to fulfill your destiny!

Sunday:
Sorry we’re all out of baked chicken AND your favorite drink
Here you go, your orders of baby back ribs enough to feed a small village
The slowest cab ride in existence experience
OH – MY – GOD!
Time to do some filming
Blurry, uncentered pictures taken by someone who is also part of the picture
I’m sorry, we’re commandeering this space for the next 3 hours or so. Thanks!
And here’s another food good enough to feed a small village. Enjoy your meal
Best midnight snack EVER!

Please make sure to fill-out your assessment form
Thank you, Thank YOU!
See you later. You better.

Simpsonized! September 7, 2008

I may not be the biggest fan of The Simpsons but I sure do like Homer Simpson a lot. He’s curt and crude, cares about food and eating a lot, incompetent but displays remarkable intelligence when the situation calls for one and most of all, he sure is loyal, protective and devoted to his family.

I chanced upon a site that listed several Homer Simpson quotes. Sobrang laughfest talaga ako while I was reading it. No wonder he was voted the most influential and greatest television character of all-time!

Laugh-on….

  • Operator! Give me the number for 911!
  • Bart, with $10,000, we’d be millionaires! We could buy all kinds of useful things like…love!
  • Just because I don’t care doesn’t mean I don’t understand.
  • Son, if you really want something in this life, you have to work for it. Now quiet! They’re about to announce the lottery numbers.
  • Marge, don’t discourage the boy! Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It’s what separates us from the animals! Except the weasel.

  • Doughnuts. Is there anything they can’t do?
  • Son, when you participate in sporting events, it’s not whether you win or lose: it’s how drunk you get.
  • Kids, you tried your best and you failed miserably. The lesson is, never try.
  • When I look at the smiles on all the children’s faces, I just know they’re about to jab me with something.
  • I’m not a bad guy! IHow is education supposed to make me feel smarter? Besides, every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain. Remember when I took that home winemaking course, and I forgot how to drive?
  • It’s not easy to juggle a pregnant wife and a troubled child, but somehow I managed to fit in eight hours of TV a day.
  • Old people don’t need companionship. They need to be isolated and studied so it can be determined what nutrients they have that might be extracted for our personal use.
  • I’m in no condition to drive…wait! I shouldn’t listen to myself, I’m drunk!

And here’s a really great Homer Simpson philosophy I might just decide to live by…..

A parody of the past

Filed under: Uncategorized — joykablogs @ 1:16 pm

I would like to to thank the following for playing an important role in my childhood. I wouldnt be the person that I am now if it weren’t for you.

My sense of style I owe it to the people of Beverly Hills 90210, Wonder Years, Doogie Howser, Melrose Place, Saved by the Bell. If I didn’t have to wear acid washed jeans, oversized Giordano classics which later on developed into a Giordano Frog or oversized shirts in general, Hi-cut LA Gear rubber shoes, keds or k-swiss “kala mo ang linis ko magsapatos” white shoes, tights or leg warmers, multi-colored socks and swatch watches, pencil-cut skirts, neon colored clothes,  I would have been caught dead by the fashion police by now.

I wouldnt have a touch of class, culture and sophistication if i haven’t memorize the lyrics of Ice,ice baby or Humanap ka ng Panget or Mga kabababayan ko, didn’t dance to the tune of Escapade, Dying inside or knew how to do the running man, scissors, moonwalk or do the breakdance (or did I just wish I could?)

My position and convictions in evil, love, the world or life in general wouldn’t be like this if i first didn’t believe that the transformers were more than meets the eye, or didn’t get to know the profound meaning of “wax on and wax off”, or believed in the power vested in me by Greyskull or that the Carebears can do wonders by just standing together and altogether doing the carebears stare, or that Barbie can fall in love with Ken then have a child in Kelly.

I wouldn’t value myself and the things and people that I have now if back to the future didn’t become one of my most often watched movies in childhood or if I wasn’t led to believe back then that by the year 2000 all computers and systems would have bugged down or that we’ll all be living in space.

Thanks to you all… it was a character building experience indeed!

Writing this at 4 in the morning. Was up since 2am because I have been resting, napping, recuperating and sleeping for the most part of the previous day. Bummer on the sniffles and because i have the worst (and most sincere) caregiver of all time, I couldn’t go out of the house!
